Say What! Tobacco-Free Virtual Conference
The projects below have been designed to help youth groups and youth advocates select a specific tobacco prevention topic to focus on. Each project includes tailored trainings from experts in a variety of fields to help you understand how to further your youth tobacco prevention efforts and reach the next level of youth advocacy.
As youth tobacco prevention advocates, youth groups will learn about the importance of education and interactive learning. Participants will plan a project focused on educating peers and other youth and community members about the harmful effects of tobacco and nicotine through presentations and activities for an in-person or virtual Texas
Tobacco-Free Kids Day.
Don’t Wait! Advocate!
Youth groups will hear from experts who specialize in public health and tobacco prevention policies. Participants will understand the importance of creating a relationship with local and state elected officials, gain necessary skills to effectively communicate with them, and plan a project to begin building a relationship with an elected official to help protect their community from the dangers of tobacco and nicotine products.
What Does My Community NEED?
Participants will understand what a needs assessment is, how to conduct one, and how to present the results to improve a community or school setting. Youth groups will conduct virtual activities that gather information from social media followers as well as classmates and teachers from school.
